In With The New

By Nadine Yip

In this blog, we elucidate what makes QTE different from its predecessor, QTC.

Does the name QTE ring a bell for you? If so, you might be familiar with the previous QTC (Queen's Tower Capital). Our founders meticulously rebuilt QTE to be bigger, sharper and closer than ever to a real market. Alongside the legacy arms of Fundamentals (fundamental investing) and Alpha (algorithmic market-taking), we now have Options, Agentic AI, Technology, FPGA, and Market Making, each mirroring the players and infrastructure of professional trading.

QTE creates a dynamic interplay between each arm. In the past, Alpha submitted algorithms to trade continuously, while Fundamentals traded just once a week off cross-asset research and a single fund. Under QTE, both operate within the same exchange, so a decision in one directly influences the other, creating a near authentic market experience. The new Technology Arm ensures stability and smooth coordination, so the exchange is an ecosystem rather than a collection of parts. With our structured teams and carefully selected heads, the expanded exchange can be better managed.

A major addition is the live order book, spread adjustment and market-making team. Our exchange is able to balance liquidity against risk, giving market makers more room to profit, which matters now that the Market Making Arm is part of the exchange. So rather than static mechanics, QTE introduces the dynamics of a genuine marketplace.

Finally, we're proud to announce Jane Street as our first sponsor, with more partnerships already on the horizon. QTE isn't just a rebrand; it's a living market built by students, for students, and powered by next-generation innovation.
